6 June, 2019

Elcogen has been named as ‘One to Watch’ in Europe in a list of business excellence published by the European Business Awards, one of world’s largest and longest running business competitions. Elcogen was chosen as it demonstrates exceptional achievement in one of the 18 European Business Awards’ categories and reflects the programme’s core values of innovation, success and ethics.

The ‘Ones to Watch’ for 33 countries across Europe can be found at www.businessawardseurope.com.

Founder and CEO of Elcogen, Enn Õunpuu said:” Tomorrow’s clean energy future will rely on the emission free and efficient energy conversion technologies. Fuel cells are the most efficient technology of converting fuels to electricity. Most importantly the fuel cells are the key technology enabling the hydrogen economy”

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards, said: “The companies chosen as ‘Ones to Watch’ are the most inspirational, successful and dynamic in Europe”. He continued: “The talent and tenacity at the heart of these businesses creates jobs and drives Europe’s prosperity. This ‘Ones to Watch’ list of excellence is a benchmark of success for the rest of the European business community.”

Elcogen’s technology have delivered a world record in fuel conversion efficiency to electricity of 74 per cent. Elcogen technology use 50 per cent less fuel than conventional distributed power generation technologies (such as microturbines and gas- or diesel-powered generators) and is virtually emission free. Its technology therefore helps reduce fuel consumption – and the associated greenhouse emissions – as well as reducing air pollutants.

About Elcogen:

Elcogen (est. 2001) is an Estonian manufacturer of the world’s most efficient fuel cells. The company has developed the next generation of fuel cells, delivering the market’s most efficient solid oxide cell technology suitable for electrolysis and fuel cell operation, while also solving key issues around cost, scale and lifetimes.

Fuel cells are a new generation of clean energy generation technology that enables to generate electricity without the need for internal combustion. The production of electricity through fuel cells is significantly more efficient, it does not release polluting substances and is safe. In addition, fuel cells can produce “green” hydrogen, which will play an important role in the future of energy storage. Fuel cell technology is at the heart of a European and global energy strategy aimed to reduce the use of fossil fuels and limit CO₂ emissions.
