Elcogen, a leading European solid oxide fuel cell manufacturer headquartered in Estonia, is delighted to announce that it has been named winner of the prestigious Good Work Environment 2021 Award, in the small business category, by the Labour Inspectorate.
Now in its seventh year, the prize is awarded following a thorough evaluation of candidates and an assessment of the standards of health and safety across the company. The awards recognise companies across Estonia that prioritise the health and safety of employees, highlighting those who have exceeded legal requirements and set a best practice example.
As part of the rigorous process, Elcogen provided an overview of policies implemented to help ensure occupational health and safety, including data from the past three years. Further analysis of each nominated company covered areas such as risk analysis, staff training and the use of personal protective equipment.
The prize is awarded in two categories: companies with fewer than 50 employees and companies with more than 50 employees. In the category of a company with more than 50 employees, the “Good Working Environment 2021” award went to ABB AS. Last year, the award was given only in the category of large companies and was won by Ericsson Eesti AS. Previously, Elisa Eesti AS, Insly OÜ, Saaremaa Piimatööstus, Bonava Eesti, Crystalsol, Tallinna Vesi, Saku Metall, Harju Elekter Teletehnika, Baltic Oil Service and Derivco Estonia have received the award.
Enn Õunpuu, founder and CEO of Elcogen, said: “At Elcogen, the wellbeing of our employees is our number one priority and we value their input into our working practices. We are very pleased that our commitment to ensuring a healthy work environment has been recognised by the Estonian Labor Inspectorate.
“We will continue to monitor our policies on a regular basis, and maintain an open dialogue with all of our employees, to promote the highest standards of health and safety.”
