Elcogen, a leading European solid oxide fuel cell manufacturer, was honoured to welcome the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Matsumara Yukihiko, and other officials from the Embassy of Japan to visit its headquarters in Tallinn, Estonia.
The Ambassador met with Enn Õunpuu, founder and CEO of Elcogen, at the Company’s 2,000 square metre, state-of-the-art clean energy technology production and R&D facility, which includes a manufacturing capacity of 1.5 MW in annual solid oxide cell production.
During the visit, hydrogen economies were discussed, as well as Elcogen’s technology and plans to increase production capacity. Ambassador Yukihoko also reiterated the Japanese Government’s intention to support hydrogen technologies and there was discussion around Elcogen’s role in providing state-of-the-art green hydrogen technology solutions in co-operation with Japanese companies.
This visit reflects and reinforces Elcogen’s strong relationship with Japan. The Company has been operating in Japan for 10 years and have signed several LOI commercialisation agreements with Japanese solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) stack and system developers. Elcogen also supplied the core technology to Japanese companies and research institutes demonstrating the world’s first solid oxide fuel cell drone capable of long-period flight and work.
Elcogen is a manufacturer of clean energy technology that delivers affordable green hydrogen and emission-free electricity to global markets. The Company’s core technology sits at the heart of energy security and transition away from fossil fuels as Elcogen strives to empower a range of industries with affordable solutions to green energy.
Enn Õunpuu, founder and CEO of Elcogen, said:
“Elcogen was pleased to welcome the Ambassador to our headquarters where we were able to highlight our leading solid oxide fuel cell technology and discuss further strengthening the relationship between Elcogen and the Japanese market.
Relationships such as these are key to Elcogen’s position as a global leader in efficient, affordable solid oxide technology for our customers’ systems, to produce green hydrogen and emission-free electricity, and in helping them to drive their net-zero ambitions forward.”
Ambassador Matsumara Yukihiko, said:
“It was a very useful visit to see Elcogen’s high level of technical competence and collaboration with several Japanese companies. I wish Elcogen continued growth and success.”
