China and South Korea are presenting as the new growth markets in Asia for fuel cell technology, Elcogen CEO Enn Õunpuu has reported.
Elcogen has reported greater interest from market players based in China and South Korea, during the company’s trade visit to the world’s leading international exhibition for hydrogen and fuel cell R&D developers.
Elcogen showcased its next-generation fuel cell technology at the 14th International Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Expo in Tokyo from February 28 to March 2, which had a strong presence from new markets.
“Japan is an important market for Elcogen’s fuel cell technology, yet it is also quite established in terms in terms of growth. It was very interesting to see during FC Expo 2018 how new players from China and South Korea are becoming active with new enquiries and sales leads,” Enn said.
While in Japan, Elcogen staff took the time for two customer visits, seeing the operations of two electrolyser and commercial power generation system manufacturers.
Elcogen also met with a key Japanese supplier that provides raw materials for Elcogen’s fuel cell technology.
“A really interesting aspect to this visit was the fact that these raw materials are produced in Japan and exported to Europe, where Elcogen then develops it into our unique cell technology, ready for export back to Japan for integration into a system.
“This proves that European technology developers like Elcogen have a role to play in adding value and addressing this missing link in the supply chain for the Japanese fuel cell technology market. We’re pleased to be fulfilling this need.”
